چکیده

15 Soil moisture variability and the depth of water stored in the arable layer of the soil are 16 important topics in agricultural research and rangeland management. In this study we use the 17 Distributed Rainfall-Runoff (DR2) model to perform a detailed mapping of topsoil moisture 18 status (SMS) in a mountain Mediterranean catchment. This model, previously tested in the 19 same study area against the Palmer Z-index, is run at monthly scale for the current scenario of 20 land uses and under three scenarios that combine the land abandonment and the application of 21 the new Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) of the European Union. Under the current 22 conditions, runoff yield is scarce and presents a high spatial variability when monthly rainfall 23 intensity and depth are low, and infiltration processes mainly lead to water storage in the soil. 24 When rainfall intensity is high, runoff accumulation along the hillslopes controls the depth of 25 available water in the soil, and SMS is more homogeneous. On average, scrublands and 26 pasture have the wettest values, crops of winter cereal and abandoned fields have intermediate 27 conditions, and areas of bare soil and forest have the driest conditions all the year around. The 28 abandonment and no revegetation of the low productive fields located in steep areas and the 29

The Effects of Micro Catchment Runoff Harvesting System on Soil Moisture Enhancement

Rainfall harvesting and storage in soil depth through micro catchment contribute to curtail water deficiency of plants. The objective of this research that was conducted in Kaboodeh-Olya village in Kermanshah province, Iran, was to compare the effects of three different micro catchment systems on soil moisture storage including flat, crescent and rhombus shaped. The experimental research was pe...

Effects of runoff harvesting through semi-circular bund on some soil characteristics

In this study, to investigate the effects of runoff harvesting on soil properties in the semiarid forest, runoff harvesting through semi-circular bund was considered as a method to conserve soil and thereby combat tree mortality. In order to evaluate this hypothesis, runoff was harvested through the semi-circular bund affecting soil quality and moisture storage. The selected forest site is loca...

Affectability of time to runoff and runoff coefficient in small laboratory plots to application of organic mulch

Nowadays, organic mulches are used as protective cover for the soil surface. This study in order to investigate the effect of protective cover straw Colza on the components of start time and runoff coefficient in loam – sandy soil in laboratory scale and using a rain simulation with an intensity of 50 mm / h with a 10-minute duration has been done. For this purpose, three levels of protective co...

Evaluation the Impact of Carcass Weight, Age at Slaughter, and Sex on the Chemical Composition of Lamb Meat: The Case of the Boutsiko Sheep Breed

The effect of carcass weight, age at slaughter and sex on some chemical components was evaluated in twenty-two Boutsiko lambs (twelve females and ten males). Chemical composition of meat was expressed as percentage of fat, protein, collagen and moisture content. Measures of the four chemical components were taken by carcass cuts included shoulder, leg, racks, kidney, rear flank, breast ribs and...
